READING THE SEASONS
Heat, shade & hours
Spring and autumn have lower monthly mean highs than midsummer in the MGM table. This is a climate comparison, not an official visitor-season recommendation.[1]
MGM's normals show mean highs of 35.7°C in June, 39.5°C in July and 39.0°C in August. Its climate classification describes Şanlıurfa summers as very hot.[1][2]
DAI reports that permanent protective roofs were built over the main excavation areas between 2016 and 2019 and designed to support visitor access. The covered excavation does not establish that the whole approach route is shaded.[5]
STATUS BOARD VALUE
The board records Göbekli Tepe hours as 08:30–17:30 daily; ticket office closes 17:00. The visit research checked on 2026-10-22 reports the same listed schedule; the seasonal extension ended on its stated date.[3][4]
