What is carved

The two large T-shaped pillars stand near the centre of Enclosure D. Carved arms run down their sides to hands at the front; belts and fox-pelt loincloths are also represented. These details are why excavators describe the pillars as stylised human figures. [1][2][3]

Interpretations

Scholarly consensus

The T-shape, arms and hands indicate anthropomorphic pillars. [1][2][3]
